The photonic structures occurring in Calliphora vicina and Lucilia richardsi’s cuticle were modelled by multilayer periodic reflectors made of a stack of two different kinds of layers with thicknesses di and dj, magnetic permeabilities μi = 1 and μj = 1 as well as dielectric permittivities εi = 1.682 and εj = 1.552 [75]. The incidence medium and the substrate have, respectively, magnetic permeabilities μinc = 1 and μsub = 1 as well as dielectric permittivities εinc = 1.002 and εsub = 1.682 [75]. Vector k Mathematical equation: $ \vec{k}$ represents incident wave vector.
